Targeted Warm Space Project

Frail Older Adults and Adults with Respiratory needs who at risk of Fuel Poverty (Southampton SO14 to SO19)

Linked and partner organisations in Southampton are working on a targeted project supporting frail, older adults and adults with respiratory conditions to access Warm Spaces and cost of living support. Fuel poverty is the condition by which a household is unable to afford to heat their home to an adequate temperature. It can be caused by a variety of factors. The project aims to provide advice and physical spaces that this target groups can access over the winter months. We hope this project will reduce hospital admissions and illness.

If you are working with an adult who meets this criteria please use the referral from here to refer them to the service. Once received, our triage team will support them to access help from Warm Spaces at Padwell Road (nr the Avenue), Spectrum nr Lodge Road) and St Marys Church (St Marys). These spaces will be open from Monday 12th Dec. The Saints Foundation will be extending their falls programme in the new year. Individuals can also be referred for information and advice from the Environment Centre and Citizens Advice. There are new warm spaces opening up all over the city and  So:Linked/SVS have a pot of funding to support community spaces becoming available and will send Comms out soon. Places that will support the target groups mentioned will be eligible to apply.

Please make colleagues who work with these groups aware.  

The form can also be used to support people outside of these groups if they do not know where to turn for information about warm spaces and cost of living services also.

Warm Spaces in Southampton:

• Warm Spaces are opening over the city and are providing support during these cold winter months. There are various offers across Southampton.  You can find a list of Warm Spaces  here

• Southampton City Council are providing warm spaces at local libraries, Sure Starts and Erskine/Potters Court. You can find more information on their website
• Warm Welcome is a national website providing spaces in the City and across the country
